One evening, just before we started shooting Sayonara in Kyoto, Bill Goetz, the producer, gave a party for Marlon Brando in a hotel.  The room was loaded with Geisha girls and Japanese starlets and actresses, and, of course, I had my Nikon.  Marlon was excited about the start of the picture, and I asked him, “Give me a lot of shots, Marlon.”  To my delight, and certainly to the delight of the Geishas who took it all in, Marlon’s response was wonderful and certainly shows him as few people have ever seen him.
